Fans of the Monster Hunter series expressed dissatisfaction with the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, sparking curiosity about whether Monster Hunter Wilds would address these concerns. Although we've only seen a limited selection of weapons from Wilds, it's been challenging to form a conclusive opinion on the overall design approach. However, Monster Hunter Wilds Director Yuya Tokuda has provided clarity on this matter.
Discussing the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda stated: “Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design.”
This direct comparison to the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World clearly addresses the fan's concerns—Monster Hunter Wilds promises weapons that are distinctly unique from one another. In Monster Hunter: World, although some weapons eventually achieved unique designs through upgrades, many remained similar. For example, the final aqua line Sword and Shield closely resembles the final Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final bone line Long Sword is nearly identical to the final Jyuratodus Long Sword. These were the most upgraded versions available when Monster Hunter: World was initially released.
