Player First Games announced the upcoming end of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, 2025, will be the game's last, concluding on May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio detailed the closure in a blog post.
The game, released May 28th, 2024, will remain playable offline after May 30th, allowing access to all acquired content via local and training modes. Online functionality will cease at that time. The developers expressed gratitude to players and supporters in a heartfelt message.

In-game purchases are now unavailable, but Gleamium and character tokens can be used until the May 30th shutdown. The game will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.
MultiVersus' closure follows reports of its underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a significant $100 million writedown, contributing to a $300 million total games sector loss. This news comes after a $100 million writedown related to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the recent departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
"We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels in a November financial call.
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will introduce new characters, Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar) and Aquaman (battle pass), alongside typical seasonal content. This final season promises a robust send-off for the free-to-play title.
