Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report unveils a robust game development pipeline, promising several releases in late 2024 and beyond. Key highlights include a new Dynasty Warriors title and an unannounced AAA game.
A New Dynasty Warriors Entry After a Long Wait
Omega Force is developing Dynasty Warriors Origins, a tactical action game marking the first mainline Dynasty Warriors release since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9. Set during the Three Kingdoms period, this PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) title, featuring a "Nameless Hero," is slated for a 2025 launch.
The report also confirms the global release of two previously announced titles: Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake (October 2024, PS4, PS5, Switch, PC) and FAIRY TAIL 2 (Winter 2024, PS4, PS5, Switch, PC).
Crucially, Koei Tecmo is actively developing multiple unannounced games, including at least one AAA title. The success of Rise of the Ronin, whose continued sales fueled Q1 profits, underscores Koei Tecmo's ambition to become a major player in the AAA market.
Koei Tecmo's Commitment to Consistent AAA Releases
Earlier reports highlighted Koei Tecmo's dedication to the AAA space, including the establishment of a new AAA studio. Their latest financial report reiterates this commitment, aiming to create a system for the continuous release of large-scale titles. While details about the unannounced AAA project remain scarce, the company's investment and stated goals suggest a significant undertaking. The definition of AAA games, involving substantial budgets and development teams, aligns with Koei Tecmo's stated aspirations for growth in this sector.
