EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is nearing its end. After a twelve-year run, the game, initially launched in 2012 on the App Store and 2013 on Google Play, will be sunsetted by Electronic Arts.
Shutdown Timeline:
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. Existing players can continue playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will be permanently shut down. EA expressed gratitude to its players for their decade-long support in a farewell message.
A Final Chance to Play?
If you haven't experienced The Simpsons: Tapped Out, now's your last chance. The game allows players to rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental nuclear meltdown. You'll manage the town's reconstruction, interact with iconic characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Fat Tony, unlock various costumes, expand to Springfield Heights, and even run Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a freemium game, regularly updated with content tied to the show and real-world events. While the game itself is free, in-game "donuts" are the primary currency for faster progression.
