- Sonic Rumble's official release has been postponed.
- Sega is rolling out the version 1.2 update with substantial new features.
- A Q&A session will take place on Discord.
Despite a high-profile crossover with Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega franchises, Sonic Rumble's global launch is on hold. The multiplayer battle royale had built strong momentum with over 1.4 million pre-registrations and was nearing its official debut. However, Sega has decided to delay the release for the time being.
The postponement coincides with the team's final preparations for update 1.2, which is set to introduce Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills to Dr. Eggman's toybox world. These features are designed to enhance the core experience, offering players more long-term goals beyond simply winning matches.
Rumble Rankings will track your seasonal performance and reward your progress, while Crews enable collaborative score missions with friends. The new Skills system also equips each character with unique abilities, adding another strategic layer to gameplay.

Rather than implementing these major changes after launch, Sega is taking extra time to ensure a polished release. A Discord Q&A is scheduled for May 2nd, where the team will discuss upcoming plans and answer community questions.

The delay doesn't erase the excitement surrounding the game. All pre-registration rewards remain confirmed, including 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles outfit, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin for reaching 1.4 million pre-registrations. You'll have plenty of bonuses waiting when the game finally arrives.
With the new release window yet to be announced, you can still pre-register for Sonic Rumble using the links below. The game will be free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. Visit the official site for additional details.
