Hazelight Games is celebrating the phenomenal launch of their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, which has sold an impressive 2 million copies in just one week. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as a major success for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.
The studio previously announced that Split Fiction achieved 1 million sales within the first 48 hours of its release, showcasing the immense popularity of Mio and Zoe’s sci-fi narrative. This means that an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, underscoring the game's strong market performance.
Given that Split Fiction is a co-op game, the actual number of players is likely much higher than the sales figures suggest. The game's innovative Friend's Pass feature allows one player to buy the game and grant access to a friend at no extra cost, significantly increasing its reach and engagement among gaming enthusiasts. As the buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.
Hazelight's previous title, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, also enjoyed similar success. It sold around 1 million copies within a few weeks of its launch in March 2021, and by February 2023, sales had reached 10 million copies. By October 2024, this number had soared to an impressive 20 million copies, highlighting Hazelight's consistent ability to deliver hit games.
