SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of the classic 16-bit RPG, Vay, on Android, iOS, and Steam. This updated edition boasts enhanced visuals, a streamlined user interface, and controller support, breathing new life into this retro gem.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD and later localized for the US by Working Designs, Vay first saw a mobile re-release by SoMoGa in 2008. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in Vay Revamped?
Vay Revamped features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A welcome addition is the adjustable difficulty, allowing players to tailor the experience to their skill level. The game now includes an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support for enhanced playability. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
The game unfolds in a distant galaxy, centuries after a devastating interstellar war. A malfunctioning, planet-destroying machine crashes on the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction. The player embarks on an epic quest to rescue their kidnapped wife and potentially save the world. Attacked on their wedding day, the player must journey across the land to thwart the destructive war machines.
Vay successfully blends classic JRPG elements, such as experience and gold acquisition through random encounters, with modern enhancements. The game includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
Vay Revamped is available now on the Google Play Store as a premium title for $5.99. Be sure to check out our other gaming news as well.
