Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in Oakheart Highcourt within the Rinascita region. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze, specifically in the central structure beneath the giant tree's roots. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

The Lifer is situated beside a board game with six pieces. Players control black pieces, the Lifer controls white. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, three are permanent. Buff details are visible on the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using Stakes of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance (stacks to 4); resets after 6 seconds without DMG.
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates. Each room contains a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow), often requiring minor challenges (defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks). Place each Stake in the module near the corresponding winged statue to remove a buff. A yellow line indicates a removed buff.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Victories yield Premium and Basic/Standard/Advanced Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though there are no associated achievements.

Achievements:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's lines; it will eventually make a mistake.
