Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Unveiled
A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, along with significant enhancements. This action RPG, set in a dystopian world depleted of resources, tasks players with battling massive mechanical creatures known as Abductors. Players harvest parts from defeated Abductors to upgrade their gear, creating a compelling loop of combat and progression. The game offers a variety of missions, from rescuing citizens to capturing control systems, playable solo or cooperatively online.
The Remastered version boasts a significant visual upgrade, moving from 544p to 4K resolution (on PS5 and PC) while maintaining a smooth 60 FPS. PS4 players will enjoy 1080p at 60 FPS, and the Switch version will run at 1080p at 30 FPS. Beyond the visual improvements, the gameplay itself is faster-paced, thanks to streamlined mechanics and increased movement speed. Weapon attack cancellation adds further fluidity to combat.
Crafting and upgrading have received a substantial overhaul. The new, more intuitive interfaces allow for easy attachment and detachment of modules. A new module synthesis feature lets players enhance their equipment using resources gathered from rescued citizens. For seasoned players, a challenging new difficulty mode, "Deadly Sinner," has been added. Furthermore, all customization DLC from the original PS Vita release is included from the outset.
Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC. The trailer highlights the main character, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, navigating a harsh world and fulfilling their sentence through dangerous missions. The game's core loop of combat, resource gathering, and upgrading remains intact, but with significant enhancements to visuals, speed, and overall accessibility.
