Hungry Horrors: Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Soon

Hungry Horrors, the eagerly awaited quirky roguelite deckbuilder from Clumsy Bear Studio, a UK-based game developer, introduces a unique gameplay twist. Instead of battling monsters, players find themselves in the kitchen, cooking up a storm to satiate the hunger of folklore creatures. The game's first playable demo is now available on Steam, with versions also accessible on Itch and GOG.

Following its PC debut, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to expand Hungry Horrors to mobile and console platforms. While an official release date remains under wraps, interested players can dive into the demo to get a feel for the game. The developers have been actively engaging with the community, notably showcasing Hungry Horrors at the London Game Festival 2025.

The Steam demo offers a comprehensive preview, featuring two handcrafted biomes, six hungry monsters to cater to, two boss fights, and four NPCs for interaction. Additionally, there are non-combat zones like the Nook and the Trove, where players can regroup and refine their culinary strategies.

More About Hungry Horrors

In Hungry Horrors, players assume the role of a princess tasked with preparing traditional British and Irish dishes to appease fearsome folklore creatures. This innovative blend of deckbuilding and culinary arts creates a uniquely engaging gameplay experience, underscored by a retro pixel art style and gothic aesthetics. The game's humor shines through as players cook dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, carefully tailored to the specific tastes of each monster.

Players will encounter legendary creatures such as Jenny Greenteeth, the blood-thirsty swamp witch, and Black Annis, the child-snatching hag with iron claws. Failing to satisfy these creatures could result in becoming their next meal. The challenge lies in deciphering each monster's culinary preferences, from sweet treats to fish aversions, across a roster that includes legends like Grendel and Redcap.

The deckbuilding aspect adds strategic depth, requiring players to combine ingredients and utilize utensils, spices, and herbs to enhance their dishes. As players advance, they unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars. For a closer look at Hungry Horrors, visit its Steam page.
