Details on Hollow Knight: Silksong's First Post-Launch Update
Early Game Bosses to Receive Slight Difficulty Reduction

A post-release patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming soon, primarily aiming to lower the difficulty of early bosses and implement other tweaks. Developer Team Cherry announced the patch on September 9th in the game's Steam community discussions, sharing full patch notes to outline the changes.
Team Cherry states the update will focus on bug fixes and "some slight balance adjustments in the early game." This includes a modest difficulty reduction for early bosses like Moorwing and Sister Splinter.
Since launch, many players have voiced concerns about the game's challenge level. Numerous threads on the Hollow Knight subreddit discuss this, with a common sentiment being that Silksong is significantly harder than the original Hollow Knight.

Players cite several experiences to support the view that Silksong is more difficult. These include enemies dealing more damage, inconveniently placed save benches, longer treks back to bosses, and sudden difficulty spikes—especially in early fights like Sister Splinter.
These points were also raised in several Japanese-language Steam reviews, contributing to a "Mixed" rating for Silksong in that region. Overall, however, the game maintains a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of over 130,000 reviews being positive.
Here at Game8, we scored Hollow Knight: Silksong 98/100, praising it for enhancing everything that made the original great and making the six-year wait worthwhile. Read our full review below for more of our thoughts.
