Dynasty Warriors games, known for their hack-and-slash combat, still demand a certain level of skill from their players. Recognizing this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins introduces four distinct difficulty settings, enabling players to customize their experience to match their skill level and desired challenge. As this game serves as a reboot, it's understandable that both newcomers and seasoned players might be uncertain about which difficulty setting to choose. The ideal choice can vary based on individual skill and the level of challenge one seeks.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players have access to four difficulty settings, though initially, only three are available. Upon starting the game, you can select from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The Ultimate Warrior (very hard) setting unlocks after completing one of the main scenarios from the three factions.
While there's a Trophy/Achievement for completing a single battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific rewards for completing the main campaign.
Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?
For those new to the action-adventure genre or focused on the story, Historian, the easy mode, is the ideal choice. Most players, including those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games, will find Wayfarer the best fit. Fans of the series might start with Hero, while Musou masters could consider stepping up to Ultimate Warrior once unlocked, to keep the challenge high as they tackle remaining missions, requests, and scenarios.
Players can adjust the difficulty between battles through the config menu if they find the current setting too hard or too easy, without affecting the storyline.
Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
On Historian, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger enemies, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. In contrast, Hero increases enemy strength and aggression, narrows the window for parries and perfect evades, and eliminates Meat Bun drops. Blocking reduces bravery, and there's less time to influence battles between armies, with slightly reduced Skill Points and gold earnings. Ultimate Warrior amplifies these challenges with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle rewards.
