Indus picks up five million downloads and concludes first international playtest in Manila

Author : Emery Jan 05,2025

Indus, the Indian-made battle royale shooter, has achieved a significant milestone: over five million Android downloads and 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its launch. This success follows a win at the Google Play Best Made in India Game 2024 awards and a successful international playtest in Manila.

This surge in popularity positions Indus as a strong contender in the Indian gaming market, challenging established competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila playtest, held at the YGG Play Summit, provided valuable feedback and exposure, with local esports professionals experiencing the game firsthand.

SuperGaming, the developer behind Indus, has further solidified its commitment to esports with the launch of the Clutch India Movement. This initiative centers around the Indus International Tournament, a competition running from October 2024 to February 2025, boasting a substantial INR 2.5 crore (approximately $31,000) prize pool.

Impressive Growth, Future Potential

While the five million downloads fall slightly short of the initial ten million pre-registrations, it's important to remember that pre-registrations don't always translate directly to downloads. The relatively lower iOS download numbers suggest room for growth in that market segment.

Despite this, Indus's rapid progress is noteworthy. SuperGaming's proactive approach, including international playtests and a dedicated esports tournament, demonstrates a clear vision for Indus's future development and its potential to become a leading force in the global gaming arena.
