Discover how inZOI's unique karma system can transform bustling cities into eerie ghost towns if too many Zois die with poor karma. Dive into the details about inZOI's karma mechanics and get ready for its upcoming early access release.
inZOI Cities Can Be Overrun By Ghosts
New Zois Cannot Be Born If There Are Too Many Ghosts
inZOI's innovative gameplay can lead to cities becoming ghost towns if the number of ghosts becomes overwhelming, significantly altering the city's dynamics. In a recent feature in PC Gamer Magazine, inZOI Director Hyungjun Kim elaborated on the profound impact of the game's karma system on player experience.
Kim explained, "Each action a Zoi takes affects their karma points." He further noted, "Upon death, a karma evaluation takes place. If a Zoi's karma score is too low, they become a ghost, requiring them to redeem their karma before reincarnating."
Moreover, an unchecked rise in Zois dying with negative karma can transform the city's status. Kim stated, "An excess of ghosts prevents new Zois from being born or families from forming, challenging players to maintain the city's karma balance." This adds a layer of strategy, as players must manage the karma system to prevent their cities from turning into ghost towns.
Kim also emphasized the system's nuanced approach, saying, "Our goal isn't to enforce only 'good' actions and restrict 'bad' ones." He added, "Life isn’t simply black and white; it’s filled with diverse meanings and values. Players should delve into inZOI’s karma system to uncover various events and narratives, exploring life's complexities."
inZOI Director Has Great Respect for the Legacy The Sims Built
While inZOI may represent significant competition in the life simulation genre, Director Hyungjun Kim does not see it as a direct rival to The Sims.
He shared, "We view inZOI as an additional choice for fans of the genre, not a competitor to The Sims." Kim expressed his admiration for The Sims, noting, "We deeply respect the legacy The Sims has crafted over the years. Achieving such depth quickly is challenging, given the broad and intricate nature of life simulations."
The goal for inZOI, according to Kim, is to offer a distinct experience through its unique features. He highlighted, "inZOI empowers players to craft the life they envision with our creative tools. We utilize Unreal Engine 5 for a realistic visual experience, alongside extensive customization and AI-driven creative tools. We invite players to explore these features, turn their dreams into reality, and become the protagonists of their own stories."
