The Monster Hunter Wilds team recently shared a pre-release community update, covering console specifications, weapon adjustments, and more. This post summarizes key announcements, including PC requirements and potential for a second open beta.
Lowered Minimum PC Specs & Console Performance
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a patch optimizing performance for the PS5 Pro. A December 19th livestream revealed console performance targets:
- PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X: Two modes – "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps).
- Xbox Series S: 1080p/30fps. A rendering bug in the framerate mode has been addressed.
While PS5 Pro enhancements are confirmed for launch, specifics remain undisclosed.
PC players can expect performance to vary based on hardware and settings. The developers are actively working to reduce minimum system requirements for broader accessibility. Details are forthcoming, with a potential PC benchmark tool under consideration.
Second Open Beta Test Possible
A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to give those who missed the first opportunity a chance to play. However, this potential beta won't include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the livestream; these will be exclusive to the full release.
The livestream also covered refinements to hitstop and sound effects for improved impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon balancing, with particular attention given to the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
