Tichu: A Thrilling Card Game Combining Bridge, Daihinmin, and Poker Elements

Tichu is a captivating card game played by two teams of two, with partners seated opposite each other. Teams collaborate to score points and achieve victory. The game unfolds over multiple hands, with the first team to reach a predetermined point total declared the winner.

The Tichu deck comprises 56 cards across four suits: Jade, Swords, Pagodas, and Stars. Each suit contains cards numbered 2 through 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. Four special cards add strategic depth: the Dragon, Phoenix, Hound, and Mah Jong.

Each player receives eight initial cards and has the option to call "Grand Tichu," a 200-point wager that they will be the first to empty their hand. Following this declaration phase, six more cards are dealt, concluding the initial distribution. Players can also call "Tichu" (100 points) before playing their first card, signifying a bet that they (not their partner) will be the first to discard all cards. Key distinctions between Grand Tichu and Tichu lie in timing, cards seen, and point values.

After the initial deal (14 cards each), a card exchange takes place. Each player secretly passes one card to each opponent and their partner, resulting in a total exchange of three cards.

The player holding the Mah Jong card initiates the first trick. They play a valid combination, and subsequent players may pass or play a higher-value combination (with "Bombs" being a notable exception). Higher-value combinations are determined by card rank, with single cards, pairs, sequences, and full houses all subject to this hierarchy. The player who plays the highest combination wins the trick and leads the next. The round concludes when two teammates have discarded all their cards. If only one player remains with cards, they incur a penalty, contributing their hand to their opponents' trick pile.

The game concludes when a team accumulates or surpasses the predetermined point target set before the game's start.
