The PC and PS5 exclusive Lost Soul Aside launched today, August 29, but it’s already received a 'Mixed' rating on Steam based on over 300 user reviews, with numerous players reporting performance and optimization problems.
Developer Ultizero Games responded quickly, stating they had “received feedback about performance issues during certain prologue cutscenes in Lost Soul Aside” and are “actively working on improving optimization.”
“Currently, some of these scenes are pre-rendered 4K videos at 30fps, which can cause occasional stuttering during playback,” the team explained. “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
“The Lost Soul Aside team is already optimizing these sections, and upcoming updates will provide a smoother experience. Thank you for your support and patience!”
Notably, the developer didn’t give a timeline for the fix, so it’s unclear when players can expect improvements. Meanwhile, more negative reviews are appearing on Steam.
“Having completed the prologue, I can’t recommend Lost Soul Aside in its current state,” wrote one player, while another noted, “I thought the choppy movement was due to frame drops, but it turns out the walking animation just looks like that. The walking and camera controls are surprisingly poor.”
“Only three hours in, but I’m really on the fence about this game,” remarked another Steam reviewer. “On one hand, the visuals are excellent and the combat is solid (though a step below Stellar Blade, in my opinion). These were the main advertised features, and Yang Bing’s studio delivered on them. Unfortunately, almost everything else feels unpolished.”
Lost Soul Aside is a stylish single-player action RPG where you fight dimensional invaders while attempting to save your sister. Originally planned for a May release, the game—after nearly ten years in development—was delayed by three months, moving from May 30 to August 29.
