inZOI Developer Addresses Denuvo DRM Concerns
Denuvo DRM Officially Removed From inZOI

The inZOI development team has officially confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Recent reports surfaced within the last day revealing that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo's implementation in games has long been contentious, with numerous studies suggesting it negatively impacts game performance.
This digital rights management and anti-tamper technology aims to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making piracy more difficult for those seeking to create cracked game versions.

In a March 26th post on Steam, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed player concerns and confirmed that the upcoming Early Access version, launching this Friday, will be completely DRM-free. "Our initial decision to implement Denuvo stemmed from our desire to protect the game against illegal distribution. At the time, we believed this would help maintain fairness among legitimate purchasers. However, after carefully considering community feedback, we recognized this approach didn't resonate with our player base," Kjun explained.
He also issued an apology for failing to disclose Denuvo's presence in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that while removing DRM protection would likely increase the game's vulnerability to piracy, it would ultimately enable greater freedom for players to modify and personalize their gaming experience. He stated, "We believe embracing this openness from the outset will foster innovation and long-term enjoyment for our community."
inZOI's Commitment to Modding Support

inZOI has consistently emphasized the importance of modding capabilities, which made the initial Denuvo inclusion particularly puzzling for players since DRM typically restricts players' ability to add modifications and custom content.
Kjun reaffirmed, "As I highlighted during our Online Showcase, we remain fully committed to making inZOI a highly moddable experience. Our first phase of official mod support will launch in May, enabling players to utilize tools like Maya and Blender for content creation. But this represents just the starting point. We plan to progressively expand mod support across various game aspects, offering numerous ways for players to customize and enhance their gameplay."
He promised a dedicated future post with comprehensive modding details. Krafton continues to prioritize player-first development, actively incorporating community feedback to refine and improve the gaming experience.
inZOI's Early Access version launches March 28, 2025, for PC. The full release will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though the complete version's launch date remains unspecified at this time.
