Blizzard has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming in-game housing system set to be introduced in World of Warcraft: Midnight. Although this expansion follows The War Within as part of the Worldsoul saga, the early previews have sparked significant interest due to the extensive customization options they promise.
A developer blog recently showcased in-game videos demonstrating the furniture placement mechanics. The system employs a grid-based approach with automatic snapping, allowing players to effortlessly arrange their furnishings. Additionally, the ability to decorate larger items like shelves or tables with smaller accessories that remain attached during movement adds a layer of detail to the customization process.
The housing system offers two distinct modes: a Basic Mode for those who prefer straightforward organization, and an Advanced Mode catering to creative builders. In Advanced Mode, players can rotate objects on all three axes and stack them innovatively, enabling the creation of intricate and visually appealing interiors.

One of the standout features is the option to scale objects, which is particularly useful for accommodating the various character sizes within the game. For example, gnomes can craft cozier environments, while larger races like tauren can design more expansive spaces. Additionally, certain furniture pieces designed specifically for the housing system will allow for recoloring, although this feature may not be available for legacy assets.
With the release of Midnight still months away, Blizzard is keeping the community engaged by teasing upcoming content, ensuring players remain excited and eager for the future updates the game has in store.
